The opportunity

Local information is often fragmented across national search platforms, social-media groups, outdated business pages, and event posts that disappear quickly. The product opportunity is not to reproduce every possible local listing. It is to make a smaller set of useful Casa Grande information easier to find, understand, and trust.

Product decision

The first release is a business-and-services directory rather than a news publication or full events platform. That narrower scope is easier to verify, moderate, and maintain. It also gives residents an immediate task the product can perform well: finding a local place that meets a current need.

Audience and core journeys

  • Residents search by keyword or browse a familiar category, compare practical details, and contact or visit a business.
  • Visitors discover local alternatives without needing prior knowledge of the city.
  • Business owners claim an existing profile, correct information, and understand clearly when placement is sponsored.

First-version features

  • Keyword and category search
  • Four launch categories: food and drink, home and auto, shopping, and community
  • Practical listing fields such as hours, accessibility, service area, directions, and contact details
  • Claimed-listing status and a correction process
  • Mobile-first, keyboard-accessible interaction
  • Clear labels for samples, sponsored placement, and editorial content

Trust and moderation

A local directory succeeds only when people believe its information. The launch plan therefore separates verified facts from reviews and promotion. Reviews should not launch without moderation rules, and paid placement should never be presented as an editorial recommendation.

What is measurable

The first useful outcomes will be listing completeness, successful searches, correction turnaround time, claimed profiles, and repeat visits—not raw page count. Those signals will determine whether events, editorial guides, memberships, or sponsored listings deserve a later phase.

Current outcome

The product now has a defined audience, information model, visual direction, interactive front-end concept, trust principles, and phased launch plan. The next implementation step is translating those decisions into WordPress and HivePress without losing the distinctive experience established by the prototype.
